Preconference

Monday, 7 November, has been reserved for pre-conference training. Three classes will be held: one for SirsiDynix Symphony® system administrators, one for Horizon™ system administrators, and one on SirsiDynix Enterprise® administration basics. All courses are one-day (six hours) lecture-style courses, running from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Enterprise™ Administration Basics

Learn the administrative functions of setting up and managing Enterprise. This course is for system administrators or other library personnel specifically tasked with setting up and profiling Enterprise.  Note: Complete the free 780 “What’s New in Enterprise and Portfolio 4.1” self-paced training before attending this class.

Topics to include:

  • Security and authentication
  • Displays and themes
  • Create new rooms and edit existing rooms
  • Understand and edit room properties including choosing layouts
  • Select search targets and search limits for a room
  • Search limits
  • Search configuration
  • Federated configuration

SirsiDynix Symphony® System Administration

Learn the administrative functions of setting up and managing SirsiDynix Symphony. This course is for system administrators or other library personnel specifically tasked with managing administrative responsibilities of SirsiDynix Symphony.

Topics to include:
e-Library configuration

  • Creating book lists
  • Enhance look and feel with custom images
  • Change search presentation and add indexes to eLibrary searches
  • Work with labels and messages.

SirsiDynix Symphony administration

  • Customizing properties
  • Toolbar management
  • Global data edits
  • User standing map
  • User standing policy.

Horizon™ System Administration

Learn the administrative functions of setting up and managing Horizon.  This course is for system administrators or other library personnel specifically tasked with managing administrative responsibilities of Horizon.

  • Using the Table editor  to understand how Horizon stores and manages library information
  • Configuring MQ Views
  • MARC maps  – What they are used for and how to edit and create
  • Customising the PAC
  • Troubleshooting and running the debug process.
